CPTV: Telnyx CEO Casem Touts Voice AI Uptime Expertise

In this CPTV interview, I spoke with Telnyx CEO David Casem about the advantages of running AI on a carrier-grade infrastructure and using one vendor for a full-stack voice AI solution.

Telnyx provides Voice AI and Voice API in its carrier-grade global private networks. Casem said having carrier-grade infrastructure ensures five-nines uptime.

“We've seen a lot of new competitors entering this space — it seems like there's a new one every day — and they don't necessarily have the expertise, either from a voice perspective or an uptime perspective,” he said. “Most of our competitors in the voice AI space are running some sort of orchestration framework that makes three separate internet calls — one to a speech-to-text provider, one to an LLM, and a third to a text-to-speech provider. Every single one of those hops goes over the internet, introducing potential jitter, latency, and packet loss — all of which reduce call quality, and you hear it.”

Casem said as a single vendor that can handle all of a customer’s voice traffic, Telnyx simplifies implementing and managing the solution for partners and customers.

“I think it's pretty similar to other areas where you have a single vendor versus a series of vendors — ultimately, there's one party responsible for delivering the end-to-end solution,” he said. “That means when things go wrong, or when you need help implementing a particular feature or workflow, you don't have vendors pointing fingers at each other, which is really common with stitched-together solutions.”

Telnyx will be at Channel Partners Conference April 13-16 at Las Vegas after an extensive channel buildout in recent months.

“This is really our debut in a meaningful way at Channel Partners,” Casem said. “We've been building out the channel over the course of the last six to 12 months, and this is a great opportunity to meet the new partners we've already onboarded and hopefully pique the interest of the ones we have yet to bring on — and show them what we're all about.”
